“The willingness to show up changes us, It makes us a little braver each time.”- Brene Brown
“Yoga is not for the flexible, it’s for the willing.” Just like life.
When faced with challenging or difficult situations in my life, I often pause to ask myself, “Am I willing?”
I am.
I know you are too.
Willingness reminds us we don’t have to have it all figured out- we just need to show up for it.
Exactly as we are.
And if we are willing to continue showing up, whether in life or in our yoga, “It makes us a little braver each time.”
To my brave and willing friends, I see you.
“Walk as if you are kissing the earth with your feet.”-Thich Nhat Hanh
We hear a lot about mindfulness these days, but what is it exactly?
It means when you are washing the dishes, Wash the dishes.
When you are drinking your coffee, Drink your coffee.
When you are in mountain pose, Be in mountain pose.
What happens when we pay attention on purpose and just BE in the present?
Let’s take off our shoes and find out together. More peace, joy and ease awaits.
“I sometimes forget that I was created for joy.”-Hafiz, 14th century poet
I think we can all agree that in times of stress, it’s our natural instinct to focus on the negative.
But even in the midst of pain or hardship, joy is there with you.
We can choose it. Joy is a choice, like gratitude.
This doesn’t mean we ignore reality, and it is possible to hold joy and pain simultaneously.
Our yoga practice can help clear out some of the places where we are holding on to anything but joy. It can move stagnant energy, help us feel uplifted and remind us that joy is our natural state.
CREATED FOR JOY by Hafiz
“I sometimes forget
that I was created for joy.
My mind is too busy.
My heart is too heavy
for me to remember
that I have been
called to dance
the sacred dance of life.
I was created to smile,
to Love,
to be lifted up
and to lift others up.
O Sacred One,
untangle my feet
from all that ensnares.
Free my soul
that we might
Dance
and that our dancing
might be contagious.”
“Your self love is a medicine for the earth.”-Yung Pueblo
Love is in the air this week…
Self-Love, that is!
This is what our yoga practice is really all about…
Meeting ourselves with love and compassion, as we move and breathe together.
Our self-love then helps us love others well.
“I can only
Give to you
What I have already
Given to myself.”
